“Why Don’t You & I” is a melodic track performed by the renowned American rock band Santana. The song, written by Chad Kroeger, was originally recorded for Santana’s 2002 album, Shaman, released under the Arista record label. In 2003, a new rendition featuring vocals by Alex Band of the Calling was created, and it was subsequently released as the third single in the United States on June 16, 2003. Notably, both versions of the single achieved chart success in the US, while the rendition with Alex Band reached its peak at number 21 in New Zealand.
During the recording process for Chad Kroeger’s version of the song, an interesting anecdote emerged. Kroeger mentioned that he recorded his vocals while on tour with Nickelback and ingeniously utilized pantyhose as a makeshift pop filter to enhance the recording quality.
