My Jamaican Guy is a reggae-dub song by Jamaican singer and actress Grace Jones, infamously known as the Bond Girl for her role in the 1985 007 movie A View to a Kill.
The song was released as the third (3rd) single from her 1982 third and last album Living My Life, in 1983. It was released as a double-side with the song Cry Now, Laugh Later on the B-side.
The song was written mainly in Jamaican Patois solely by Grace Jones. Jones later revealed in a 2010 interview that the song was written about Tyrone Downie, a member of Bob Marley‘s The Wailers.
My Jamaican Guy has been widely sampled by variety of artistes, most notably by American rapper LL Cool J, in his 1995 hit song Doin It.
