New York rappers Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock released their hip hop single It Takes Two on August 2, 1988. The song quickly became a top forty (40) hit and was later certified platinum by the RIAA.
It Takes Two has been covered and sampled by various recording artistes over the years and has been argued to be the greatest hip-hop single ever made. The infamous introduction of the song is spoken over a sample of Space Dust by The Galactic Force Band (1978).
