All Through the Night is a synthpop song originally written and recorded in 1983 by American singer-songwriter Jules Shear for his 1983 album Watch Dog.

Later that year, American singer Cyndi Lauper recorded a pop ballad cover version for her debut album She’s So Unusual. Her version, which had backing vocals from Shear, was more successful and became a hit after its release as a single.

In the US, it reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100. This made Lauper the first woman in the 26-year history of Billboard to take four singles from the same album to Top 5 on the Hot 100. The song also reached number four (4) on the US Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart.

The song is significant as being Lauper’s only single released worldwide to not have a music video.
